On the market place at Vevey stands the Château de l’Aile, which is classified as a monument of national importance in Switzerland. This neo-gothic building is an exceptional feature of the architectural landscape of the region, and has undergone significant renovation work performed by the AGN (Amsler-Gagliardi-Nomad) group of architects. In the garden, the water in the circular basin gently ripples, echoing the waves of Lake Geneva just a few metres away. Yew trees – vestiges of the castle’s secular history – cast their cool shadows on the wide gravel paths
